How To Check Your Child's S1 Posting Result

There are three ways to see the result:

  1. Online: log in to the S1 Portal with your Singpass from 9am. Its results button only goes live on the day
  2. By SMS: sent to the local mobile number you gave when you submitted your school choices
  3. Through the primary school: contact your child's primary school for the result

What To Do After The S1 Posting Results

Your child doesn't need to report to their new school on results day. Each school sends its own instructions, so work through this checklist over the following days. Tick items off as you go: this page remembers them on this device.

The 2027 school year starts on Monday, 4 January 2027. The school confirms Secondary 1's reporting time and attire.

What The Result Means For Your Child's Subjects

Your child's Posting Group sets the level they start most subjects at in Secondary 1: G3, G2 or G1. If they did well in a subject at the PSLE, the school may offer it at a more demanding level, so look out for that offer. Our Full Subject-Based Banding guide explains each level.

Appealing For A School Transfer

MOE asks parents to give the posted school a fair chance: every school has programmes for different strengths, and changing schools can disrupt your child's learning. If you still want to appeal, the route depends on the reason.

On Medical Grounds

  • Who it's for: students with serious medical conditions, such as chronic heart or kidney problems, or severe physical impairments, such as needing a wheelchair permanently
  • How: appeal through the posted school, with medical reports or doctors' letters. School staff help you file it
  • Deadline: 12pm on the next working day after the results
  • Outcome: by early January. A transfer depends on places at the school you ask for, and isn't guaranteed

For Other Reasons

  • How: appeal directly to the school you prefer, following the process on its website
  • What the school looks at: your child's PSLE score must meet its 2026 cut-off point for their Posting Group, they must meet its admission criteria, and it must have a place
  • Outcome: may only come from mid-January, and schools may have few or no places left after posting

Whichever route you take, your child should start at the posted school when term begins, and keep attending while you wait

Getting Ready For Secondary 1

Secondary school days are longer, often about 7.30am to 3pm, though each school differs. Subjects move faster, and students manage more of their own revision. The December holidays are a good time to rest, then ease back into a routine before January.

Choosing A CCA

Every secondary school student joins a CCA: sports and games, uniformed groups (such as NCC, NPCC, NCDCC, Scouts or Girl Guides), performing arts, or clubs and societies. In the first weeks of term, schools hold CCA fairs and trials, then your child submits a ranked list. They may not get their first choice, and changing CCAs later is usually not allowed, so encourage them to try a few types first. A good CCA record can also earn up to 2 bonus points for JC or polytechnic admission.

At Zenith Education Studio, we help students build strong subject foundations early, so the first term of secondary school feels like a natural next step

Frequently Asked Questions

What time are the S1 posting results released?

From 9am on results day, Friday, 18 December 2026 (tentative), on the S1 Portal

Does my child need to go to the secondary school on results day?

No. Follow the school's instructions on its website and Parents Gateway, and report when term starts on Monday, 4 January 2027.

My child met a school's cut-off point but wasn't posted there. Why?

Cut-offs change every year, so last year's figure is only a guide. When students with the same PSLE score compete for a school's last places, tie-breakers decide: citizenship, then choice order, then computerised balloting. Our S1 Posting Guide explains how this works.

What if my child wasn't posted to any of our 6 choices?

They're posted to a school with places left, based on your registered address. If you'd prefer another school, you can appeal to it directly, as long as your child meets its 2026 cut-off point and it has a place.

I didn't get an SMS. What should I do?

The SMS only goes to the local mobile number given when you submitted your school choices. Log in to the S1 Portal with Singpass instead, or contact your child's primary school.

Can DSA students appeal for a school transfer?

No. Students who accepted a DSA-Sec offer can't transfer to another school after the PSLE results.

When are the 2026 cut-off points published?

In SchoolFinder in December 2026, after the S1 posting results. Until then, compare last year's on our Secondary School Cut-Off Points page.
