I began my career in advertising, working with Publicis Groupe on accounts such as Subway and Diageo (Johnnie Walker Blue Label), and later as a marketing communications executive at The St. Regis Singapore. While the work was dynamic and rewarding, I found deeper meaning in teaching - being able to play a direct role in shaping young minds not only academically, but also in their personal growth through values and morals.

In the classroom, my teaching style is rooted in the belief that learning should not be about spoon-feeding answers. I prefer to guide students by consistently questioning them and leading them toward their own conclusions. Critical thinking is at the heart of my approach: I encourage students to attempt solutions independently, even if their understanding is incomplete or uncertain, before I step in to clarify and reinforce any gaps. To me, not knowing is a natural and essential part of learning, and taking that first step, however imperfect, is what drives true understanding. This philosophy, combined with my unfiltered humour and ground-level connection with students, is what makes my classes engaging, fun, and memorable.

My students would say that I’m genuinely interested in their lives and make an effort to build real connections with them, often joking and chatting to create a comfortable, supportive environment. They know me as someone who is fair and understanding of their workload, yet firm when it truly matters, especially during exam periods or when important responsibilities are at stake. Beyond the classroom, I show up for them as people, not just students. (For example, when one of my students was working at a recent pasar malam in Tampines to help support his family, both he and his mother were surprised and touched that I took the time to visit, offer encouragement, and show my support. Ultimately, my students see me as someone who believes in them, cares deeply about their well-being, and is committed to helping them grow both academically and personally.
