Why take O Level Physics tuition?

😕
Learning physics at the O-Levels is challenging for many students, and as the exam dates draw closer, it’s natural for parents to feel concerned about their children’s progress. Heavily reliant on a wide range of abstract concepts and complex equations, many physics topics are deeply interconnected, so when a student struggles with a specific principle, it can quickly affect their understanding of other theories.
📚
A strong performance in O-Level Physics means much more than just scoring well — it can directly influence your child’s JC or Polytechnic options. Without proper support, students can easily feel overwhelmed by the complexity of the topics and the pressure to score. At this critical stage, a solid grasp of physics concepts, coupled with the ability to apply them well under exam conditions, makes all the difference

At Zenith Education Studio, we specialise in transforming these challenges into opportunities for success. Our tailored science tuition programme focuses on building a strong foundation, enhancing problem-solving skills, and mastering exam techniques.

Our proven track record speaks for itself: 80% of our students achieve A grades in their O-Levels after attending our classes.

Join us at Zenith Education Studio, where we make mastering O-Level Physics achievable, engaging, and a rewarding journey.

O Level Physics Programme Details

What is Physics Paper 1-3, and how can we help?

There are three papers in O-Level Physics, each testing different aspects of the students’ understanding of the subject.

Paper 1 – Multiple Choice

Students will need to answer 40 compulsory multiple-choice questions within 1 hour. This paper accounts for 30% of the students’ grade and requires rapid recall across all the topics they have studied, averaging around 1.5 minutes per question.

Paper 2 – Structured and Free Response

Students will be required to complete two sections (Sections A and B) within 1 hour and 45 minutes. Making up 50% of their grades, this paper tests students’ ability to handle information and solve problems, while also testing the depth of their understanding of each subtopic.

Section A will consist of a variable number of compulsory structured questions carrying a total of 70 marks. The last two questions in particular will carry 20 marks, with the majority being allocated to a data-based question. Section B will include two questions, of which candidates should choose only one to answer. This question is worth 10 marks.

Paper 3 – Practical

Students will need to prepare a practical experiment based on the instructions given, and answer two sections with multiple experiment-related questions within 1 hour and 50 minutes. Each section is allocated 55 minutes. This paper accounts for 20% of thestudents' final grade. It aims to assess their practical abilities, including planning appropriate physics experiments to test a hypothesis and handling lab apparatus correctly.

How do we help students prepare for the O Level Physics exam?

Our O-Level Physics tuition classes are thoroughly aligned with the latest 2025 MOE curriculum (Syllabus 6091), encompassing core modules essential for O‑Level and future academic success:

Electricity and Magnetism

Circuit analysis, static electricity, and magnetic field interactions are common problem areas for our students. By imparting effective systematic circuit-solving techniques, reinforcing current-voltage relationships, and simplifying abstract concepts like Lenz’s and Faraday’s laws through targeted practice, we help students gain clarity and confidence in one of the most challenging topics.

Thermal Physics

Students often confuse concepts related to heat capacity, latent heat, and energy transfer. Our approach simplifies formulae through concept mapping and clear step-by-step breakdowns. With specialised summary notes and 1-1 consultations available, we help students master energy calculations and real-world applications, especially in conduction, convection, and radiation.

Waves

Wave properties, light and sound behaviour, and ray diagrams are commonly misunderstood. We break down each concept clearly and guide students through the connections between key principles, reinforcing understanding with structured questions. Special focus is given to reflection/refraction laws and accurate wave diagrams — common stumbling blocks in Paper 2.

Radioactivity

Half-life calculations and nuclear equations require good visualisation skills and are often prone to careless mistakes. Our tutors are experts in explaining these abstract concepts in a clear and concise manner, using visual explanations and carefully curated notes to simplify decay processes, radiation types, and safety concerns.

Newtonian Mechanics

Concepts like forces, moments, and kinematics can often feel overwhelming due to their abstract nature. Through motion graphs, vector analysis, and Newton’s laws with visual aids, we help students tackle tricky calculations with hands-on problem solving and scaffolded questions, applying newly learned theories in structured and free-response questions.

Measurement

Generally straightforward, measurement can still trip students up with its significant figures and unit conversions. Often used throughout the syllabus, we reinforce foundational skills through targeted drills and real-life examples, building students’ confidence in data interpretation and error analysis — a crucial starting point for success in Paper 3 (Practical).

FAQ for Physics Tuition Classes

Are there make-up classes for students who miss lessons?

Students unable to attend lessons for ANY reason will be allowed to attend a make-up session during the same week. However, we do not encourage class-hopping as this will affect the students’ progress. As there are only four extra seats for students doing make-up lessons in each class, students must notify teachers at least 6 hours before their scheduled lesson.

If students are still unable to make it for any lessons of the week, we will normally conduct all lessons during the holidays, so students can attend to make up for the missed lesson. Alternatively, as a last resort, students can book our teachers for a consultation to cover the missed lesson.

Do you offer free trial classes?

Yes, we do offer free trial classes for new students. However, free trial classes will not be available for specific lessons during certain weeks as some lessons are catered towards the application of content already taught to current students. We will contact students to arrange for the trial lesson.

Why are lessons at Zenith much more affordable compared to other tuition centres that offer O Level Physics programmes?

At Zenith, we believe that education should remain affordable and accessible to any student who is driven and motivated to succeed. We aim to provide the maximum value at the lowest cost.

Do you offer one-on-one physics tuition?

Educators at Zenith wholeheartedly believe in the effectiveness of our group teaching in getting you that coveted A for your examinations. With our capped class sizes, we do not provide 1-1 tuition or online tuition, but often provide 1-1 consults to students FREE OF CHARGE, especially nearing examination periods, subject to the physics tutor’s availability. Students can also arrange to see teachers before and after lessons for free consultations.
