Secondary School March Holiday Crash Course

When I first entered JC, I struggled with H2 Chemistry and achieved sub-par results for my first Chemistry Lecture Test in J1. I decided to join Jia Yi’s Chemistry class at Marymount and stayed on until the end of the A-Levels. Jia Yi is probably one of the best tutors I've ever had. He's extremely knowledgeable about the H2 Chemistry syllabus, as demonstrated by the chemistry guidebook he authored, which compiles all the RnCs and other essential information that greatly supported my exam preparation. Another great thing is that he is easily contactable via WhatsApp and usually responds very quickly, which I found immensely helpful whenever I had questions or doubts to clarify. With the help from Zenith and Jia Yi, I was ultimately able to score an A in the A-Levels

I am extremely grateful to have Nick as my Physics and Chemistry teacher. He creates a comfortable and friendly learning environment that gives students the confidence to ask questions freely. Before joining his lessons, I consistently scored around a D7 and struggled to understand many concepts. However, in just one term, Nick helped me improve from a D7 to an A1. This improvement did not come from memorisation, but from a genuine understanding of the concepts through his clear and effective teaching. Nick constantly checks in on our progress, ensures that no one is left behind, and willingly makes time for consultations outside of class. Beyond academics, he also cares deeply about our wellbeing and mental health, always offering support and advice when needed. I would highly recommend Nick to any student who wants a pleasant, enjoyable, and stress-free learning environment while still achieving meaningful academic improvement.

Nicholas teaches Chemistry in a clear and precise way that makes even complex concepts easy to understand. His lessons helped me improve my answering techniques, and he always takes the time to explain unfamiliar topics and clarify any doubts. With his guidance, my grades improved from a consistent C6 in my weighted assessments to an A1 in the O-Level examination. His tutoring made Chemistry much more approachable and easier to understand.

Daryl helped me improve by going through each Chemistry topic thoroughly and highlighting the key concepts. He also reinforced our understanding through repeated practice of important questions, which helped me improve tremendously over a few months. I especially appreciated the simple strategies he used to help us remember concepts, such as a mnemonic for the reactivity series, which made memorisation much easier and allowed us to focus more on understanding. I also appreciated his patient and compassionate approach to teaching. He never gets irritated if a student doesn’t understand a concept and always takes the time to explain things clearly. He is also very approachable and willing to help both during and after class. My Chemistry grades improved greatly, from an F9 in Secondary 3 End-of-Year exams to an A1 in Secondary 4 Prelims. This boosted my confidence in Chemistry and was one of the reasons I decided to take H2 Chemistry in JC. I would highly recommend Daryl to any student studying Chemistry. He is able to challenge stronger students while also providing the support needed for those who are struggling, and his friendly personality makes lessons enjoyable and comfortable.

I joined Jia Yi’s class at the start of Sec 4 when I was consistently scoring Bs and Cs for Chemistry. Jia Yi is extremely patient and always takes the time to explain concepts clearly until everyone understands before moving on. During lessons, he asks questions to ensure we are following along and truly understand the content, which helps reinforce our learning. Outside of class, he is also very responsive and replies to my messages very quickly regardless of the time. The support and guidance he provided greatly improved my confidence and understanding of Chemistry, which was reflected in my O-Level results.

I joined Jia Yi’s classes in upper secondary after performing poorly in my Sec 3 EOY exam. After attending his trial class, I realised the support provided was more than sufficient in helping me address my weaknesses in Chemistry. I was able to understand the subject much better, beyond what was taught in school. As Chemistry places strong emphasis on conceptual understanding, Jia Yi always explains concepts clearly and patiently during lessons. Having weekly classes also helped me regularly revise both tuition and school content, allowing me to retain information more effectively. He provided many test papers for us to attempt during lessons and would review them immediately afterwards. I found this method very effective as it helped me identify mistakes and learn from them quickly. He was also very responsive and replied promptly whenever I had questions. With Jia Yi’s guidance, I improved tremendously, achieving a jump of five grades.

Ever since I joined Jia Yi’s classes, I became much more interested in Chemistry. I used to struggle with the mole concept, which affected my overall understanding of the subject. Jia Yi made time for consultations outside of lessons to help me, which greatly improved my learning. The notes and resources provided in class are also well-structured and much easier to understand. I improved from a C in Sec 3 to an A2 in my O-Levels.

Before attending Ms Jael’s classes, I was an average C6 Physics student. What I truly appreciate about her is how much she genuinely cares for her students, both during and outside of class. I’ve never been afraid to approach her with my doubts, as she always responds promptly and ensures that I understand the concept behind what each question is testing. Her constant belief in me and her encouragement to aim higher ultimately helped me improve from a C6 to an A2 in my O-Level Physics. I’m incredibly grateful for her guidance and support. Ms Jael is an extraordinarily patient and supportive teacher. She explains topics in a clear and logical manner, making even complex concepts much easier to grasp. Whenever we encounter more challenging or perplexing areas, she ensures that we fully understand them before moving on. Under her guidance, my confidence in Physics has improved significantly. After almost two years of learning English at Zenith with my tutor, Ms. Jo-Anne, I can confidently say that I have thoroughly enjoyed and benefited from her lessons. During a period when I was extremely busy with Student Council work, I relied heavily on online classes. Despite my initial concerns, they proved to be just as effective. Her well-organised resources and constant guidance ensured that I was always able to follow the lessons smoothly. I also experienced remarkable improvement in comprehension. Previously, I struggled with inference questions and often felt overwhelmed. Ms. Jo-Anne taught me clear techniques to identify question types, which helped me approach both narrative and non-narrative passages with much greater confidence. Most importantly, my results reflect the effectiveness of her teaching. Under her guidance, my English grade improved from a consistent C6 to a B3, which I believe is a true testament to her dedication and exceptional teaching. Overall, Ms. Jo-Anne has not only strengthened my English skills but also transformed my confidence as a learner. I am sincerely grateful for her guidance and would highly recommend her to any student seeking genuine and lasting improvement in English.

I’m extremely grateful to have joined Zenith and been taught by Ms Jo-Anne. English had been my weakest subject since lower secondary, and I was consistently receiving poor grades. I joined Zenith just 3-4 months before my O-Levels, and the tuition classes helped elevate my average English results to an A1. My tutor, Ms Jo-Anne, was incredibly supportive. Ms Alicia really helped me improve my Amath from a D7 in Prelims to A2 in O levels! Despite me being more quiet, she still reached out to me and asked if I needed any help in Amath, and was very willing to provide support whenever I needed. She also takes the time in class to go through the concepts very clearly every lesson and I really managed to solidify my learning super well!

Before joining Zenith, I was stuck at a B grade for my A-Math in Secondary 3 and 4. However, joining Alicia’s class completely changed the way I learned Math. Within the span of 2-3 months of learning with Alicia, I managed to get distinctions for my A-Math. My love for Math was reignited, and I really enjoyed studying it. She quickly found areas I lacked in and gave solutions, instantly improving my Math. I also had around-the-clock guidance and had my uncertainties cleared outside of lesson time. Her duties go beyond the classroom, as she helped me with school stuff like choosing of my school after O-Levels. She teaches fast yet with precision. If you’re worried that you have no time to catch up, Alicia will help you race to the front no matter your study pace.

Alicia helped me a lot, not just with understanding the concepts but also by ensuring that I practised my time management skills, reduced careless mistakes, and improved in many other areas. She took extra care with topics I was still unsure about and went the extra mile to make sure I was fully caught up and well prepared for my exams. In the end, I improved from an abysmal D7 in prelims to an A2 in the O-Levels! ◡̈

I met Kaiwen when I was struggling with A Math and had no confidence going into TA1. In just two hours, he helped me understand all the A Math topics covered in Term 1. He guided me from not knowing where to begin with a question to confidently identifying the question type and solving it with ease. Kaiwen explains A Math concepts clearly and concisely, making them easy to grasp, which is why I decided to join his class. Throughout my two years in upper secondary, he helped me consistently achieve A1s for A Math. Over time, I gained confidence and even began to enjoy the subject more. I thoroughly enjoy his classes, as he is very patient and attentive to each student. Outside of class, he is always willing to help by answering my questions and guiding me though challenging problems. As the O Levels approached, Kaiwen provided a wide range of practice questions and examples for each topic to help us familiarise ourselves with different question types. He also emphasised key points to take note of, which later proved extremely useful in the exams. With his support, I am happy to have secured an A1 for O Level A Math.

I attended a crash course at Zenith in Secondary 3, where I first met Kaiwen. I really appreciated how he dives deep into every concept, focusing on true understanding rather than simply having us memorise formulas. Kaiwen consistently challenges me with questions that push me to think beyond the surface and approach problems from different perspectives. He always ensures that I fully understand each topic and patiently explains concepts again if needed. He is also incredibly supportive outside of lessons, making himself available whenever I need help. Overall, it has been an amazing tuition experience, and I truly wouldn’t have achieved my results without him.

A-Math was a subject I really dreaded studying for as the content was tough and it was difficult for me to completely grasp one topic before we moved on to the next. However, this changed when I joined Kaiwen's classes after attending his crash courses during the holidays. I was initially slightly intimidated as I was not the best at A-Math and hesitated when answering in class. Despite that, Kaiwen always encouraged me to try questions myself before asking for help, which grew my confidence. I loved how we could clear our misconceptions at any point in time, and that consultations could be scheduled to clarify any remaining concerns, which helped me fill any gaps in my understanding of previous topics. Every week, I looked forward to my productive Fridays which were always filled with so much fulfilment and joy. The jokes Kaiwen cracked while we tackled monster questions he challenged us with never failed to make me laugh during the two hours of class, keeping me motivated although O-Levels was fast approaching. After a few months, I was suprised to see that I started improving and appreciating A-Math, and that I enjoyed doing homework, which is something I never thought I would say! Through the stacks of practice papers and constant revision quizzes Kaiwen gave us, I improved immensely within a year and I can confidently say this is a subject that I no longer shy away from.

I always thought that a-math was just practicing till we can solve it but Alicia has helped me to understand that a-math is about understanding the concepts first and that has honestly made learning a-math so much more meaningful. Alicia helped to break down hard concepts to us and willingly repeating everything multiple times till we grasp the concepts. She even goes the extra mile to reply to our burning questions in the middle of the night at 2am, and will provide a detailed breakdown of the math concepts over text. She always makes lessons so enjoyable and fun and has truly made me love a-math so much more!

Before meeting Alicia, I was completely demoralised after seeing an E8 for A Math on my result slip. With so much patience, she guided me step by step through every concept, always making sure I truly understood my workings instead of blindly copying answers and moving on. With her constant encouragement and belief in me, I found the strength to persevere and eventually achieved an A1 at my O-Level exams.

Mr John, the absolute goat, is the most incredible tuition teacher I have ever had in all my life. He is a very down-to-earth, laid-back guy that I'm not scared of asking questions to, like I am with most teachers. He gives comprehensive notes that he stayed up till 2 am compiling, notes on everything you could ever need for English. Oral tips, sample essays, past year questions, how to identify and answer every question type in Paper 2, how to do grammar properly to score well for editing instead of relying solely on “what sounds right” (which I know 98% of yall have been doing). Everything was in there. I had always wished to have collated notes for all the skills and question types but was too lazy to find some or create them myself because my knowledge and notes were all over the place, so it blew my mind to see that he had actually achieved what I had always wanted. I think the biggest impact he had on me was when teaching how to write essays. I was one of those people who completely banked on doing argumentative or discursive essays because it was the only thing I knew how to do. Obviously I knew I shouldn't put all my eggs in one basket and should have a backup essay type that I could write just in case argumentative was too difficult, but I didn't know what else to do. I didn’t like narrative, and I had never even done a descriptive essay before. My school was never good at teaching how to write such abstract essays with no clear marking guidelines. Through Mr John's teaching, I discovered that my way of learning was through examples. He showed me some example essays and paragraphs of descriptive essays, and I don't know what he did or how he did it, but he explained the essay type in such a way that I realised I was starting to get it. By actually seeing what the correct thing was supposed to look like rather than just hearing about “how” to write it, I started to get the hang of descriptive, especially when I practised writing a descriptive paragraph for the first time, albeit with reference to a sample, but it gave me an idea of what and how to write. Mr John and his teachings directly impacted me for O Levels because I went from someone who had never written a descriptive essay before to someone who chose to write one for my Paper 1 in English O's. I even used many good descriptive phrases from his samples in the essay. Mr John defied my every expectation and did what I thought was impossible. He actually managed to teach me English and made me feel prepared for O Levels, and I will forever be grateful for it. Mind you, I joined midway through the year and had consistently been scoring C5s and C6s for English, but miraculously managed to score an A1 in O's for a subject I never thought I could do well in. I am so glad I found Zenith. I would take it in JC if I needed to, and would absolutely recommend it to anyone who struggles in subjects that Zenith offers, even people who think there's no hope. I was struggling with Pure Chemistry and decided to join Jia Yi’s classes. With his guidance and patience, he helped me understand concepts more clearly and apply them effectively in exams. Over the past five months in his class, my Chemistry grade improved from a C5 to an A2 in my O-Levels. Jia Yi has definitely boosted my confidence in Chemistry through his engaging and enjoyable lessons.

I first met Kaiwen in Secondary 2 (2023) during a crash course for Upper Secondary Math. Even though it was only a two-hour session, I genuinely felt like I learned more in those two hours than I had in my two years of lower secondary math. I came back again in Sec 4 when my A Math was at an F9. Kaiwen pushed me to attend two lessons a week to achieve the improvement I was aiming for. My original goal was just to improve from an F9 to a B4. Instead, I achieved an A2, thanks to Kaiwen! 

Back in lower secondary, I did not pay much attention in class and fell far behind. As a result, I struggled to achieve good grades and even failed a weighted assessment in Secondary Three. However, Alicia helped me achieve an A1 in my O Levels. She patiently went through and explained questions repeatedly, even if she had already covered them before. She also helped me online whenever I encountered questions I did not understand. In class, she made learning engaging by incorporating fun and interactive games to test our knowledge. Additionally, she offered consultations before and after lessons, taking extra time to provide one-on-one support.

Alicia is very patient and attentive, always ensuring that her students understand each lesson clearly. She is approachable and always willing to help. She is not just a teacher but also a friend, which makes it easy to ask questions without feeling intimidated. She explains concepts in a simple, structured, and informative way, going in depth where needed. This makes even difficult topics much easier to understand. With her guidance and support, my confidence in A Math improved greatly, and I went from a B4 in Secondary 3 EOYs to an A1 in my O Levels.

Alicia is a very encouraging teacher who always pushed me to look ahead to the next step. When I first joined her class, I felt hopeless because I had scored an F9 for A Math in my school examination. She was clear and concise in her explanations and was always available for consultation before and after lessons, as well as online. She constantly reminded me that my current grades did not define my final outcome, which motivated me to keep working hard. In the end, I improved to a distinction for my O Levels.

After joining Jia Yi’s class, I improved from failing Chemistry to achieving an A1 in my O-Levels. He is always willing to answer my questions during lessons and would even stay back after class to help me understand more difficult concepts. Jia Yi breaks down topics into bite-sized and easy-to-understand parts, which makes them much easier to remember.

I was honestly struggling with Biology since Sec 3 and couldn’t really grasp the concepts for almost every topic. Ms Natasha was really patient and went through all the different topics with me step by step, very meticulously and explained concepts in a way which helped me finally understand and catch up. With her help, my grade improved from an E in every Sec 3 exam to an A1 in O Levels. Her explanations were clear and she never made me feel dumb for asking questions. I’m really grateful for her help.

I remember scoring a C5 for my Sec 3 WA2 before joining Jia Yi’s class. After joining his lessons, I improved from a C5 to an A1 in my subsequent WA3 and have consistently scored A1 in all my exams since, including my O-Levels. Jia Yi’s classes are both interactive and effective. He focuses on building strong fundamentals before drilling us with plenty of practice questions to prepare us for different exam scenarios. I became much more confident in Chemistry and am very grateful to have been taught by Jia Yi.

I used to believe that A Math was a subject I would never do well in. However, it felt like a turning point when I found myself able to confidently solve the questions Kaiwen gave us. My confidence in the subject skyrocketed as I progressed to tackling more challenging problems. With the extensive practice he provided, I began to recognise patterns in exam papers and even started to enjoy doing them. I remember that binomials had been taught before I joined his class, and when my school covered the topic, I struggled to understand it. Instead of letting me give up on the topic, Kaiwen took the time outside of regular lessons to sit down with me and go through the entire concept and its various question types. These extra consultations helped me strengthen both the areas I was weak in and the ones I was already familiar with. During the prelim period, Kaiwen even allowed us to attend lessons on other days, exposing us to a wider range of question types during a crucial time when we were doing intensive self-study. All of these efforts helped me reach my fullest potential.
